You really do feel for her and her situation. Sayori’s death is HORRIBLE (as already mentioned). Only thing bad about the length is you want more. It’s really funny and moving as well as being scary, making it a good game for people to play, even if they’re not typically into horror. The whole game is based around a false sense of cutesy security.

(NOTE: I CANNOT believe this game is free.) Plus the music is AWESOME. It perfectly matches fun and disturbing, so that even if you don’t like where it’s going, it’s still happy and entertaining enough for you to keep playing and NEVER FORGET. It actually put me in mild shock.) Plus the game is just too entertaining to forget. (NOTE: When Sayori died I was traumatized. Not only is it dark enough to deeply affect your mood (NOTE: I was depressed for about a week after finishing this game) but its characters are also so memorable and lovable that you will quite literally find yourself missing these fictional people. This is one of the few games that you remember for a long time after you finish it.
Is she just insane? Or is there something we’re missing? Or, as various game theories have heartily questioned, is something not as it appears? But we do know she is the leader of the Literature Club. There is no real backstory provided for her. But even Natsuki has problems, as it is revealed in the game that her father beats her. And, of course, we have Natsuki, the youngest, and the one character in the game who seems relatively normal. We have Yuri, who is slowly descending into insanity. We have Sayori, who seems fun and happy on the surface, but is actually deeply depressed. And while there could be a little flushing out for Monika, all the other characters seem weirdly relatable. Each character has much more beneath the surface than they initially appear to. Sayori’s death is one of the most traumatizing character swipes in any game, and attempts to expose, in its own mean way, the fragility of the human mind. This visual novel is much deeper than it initially appears, and information about the game is still being discovered.
And while some elements of the plot are not explained, this simply leaves room for interpretation, and possible plot additions in future games, such as the one the developers are currently working on, which could reveal a lot of secrets about Doki Doki. This game isn’t trying to be something that it’s not, and for that reason it is one of the most traumatizing gaming experiences ever. Nowadays, most scary games try too hard to be scary. The story itself as actual depth to it, which is something few modern horror games can actually achieve. In fact, what this game does best is mess with your mind and emotions slowly making you fall in love with a character only to find them swiped away by a cruel twist in the plot. But as it progresses it reveals a touching and truly disturbing story about depression and what gaming really means. The plot starts out cheesy, like a romantic comedy. From happiness to sadness to straight out terror, this visual novel is first class psychological horror at its best. No game (NOTE: that I’ve ever come across) has provided this level and number of extremely complex emotions. It not only proves that dating simulators can be scary it also proves something else: that games do not have to be expensive to be absolutely, undeniably amazing.
